Pastoral Care & Safeguarding — Safety First. Always.
Every young person deserves to feel safe, supported, and empowered. At Futures Academy, safeguarding and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do.
Our Commitment
We believe that no student can achieve academically or athletically without first feeling safe, understood, and supported. That’s why Futures Academy places pastoral care and safeguarding at the centre of our provision — not as an add-on, but as a foundation for success.

Safeguarding Framework
- DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead): Micah Watson Gayle
- DDSL (Deputy DSL): Jamie Sanneh
- All staff are Enhanced DBS checked and complete annual safeguarding, Prevent Duty, and online safety training.
- Policies are aligned with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2025 and Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023).
Reporting Process:
- Any concern is logged immediately with the DSL/DDSL.
- Records are securely stored and shared only with authorised agencies.
- Parents, carers, and commissioners are kept informed where appropriate.
Escalation Routes:
If concerns are not addressed, staff, parents, or students can escalate to the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) or Ofsted.
